Aaron Rodgers Could Become Fifth NFL QB Ever to Beat All 32 Teams as Steelers Face Packers: Who Else Is Close?
Aaron Rodgers stands on the precipice of NFL history. The veteran quarterback has an opportunity this season to etch his name alongside gridiron legends by becoming just the fifth quarterback in NFL history to conquer all 32 teams.
Throughout his illustrious career, Rodgers has vanquished 31 of the NFL’s 32 franchises. The lone remaining hurdle? His former team, the Green Bay Packers.
Rodgers gets his shot at redemption, or perhaps revenge, this week when Pittsburgh plays host to Green Bay on Sunday night. The stage is set for a potentially historic encounter. The former first-round pick’s journey began with the Packers in 2005, where he amassed four MVP awards and a Super Bowl ring during his 18 seasons in Green Bay. However, a fractured relationship led to Rodgers being traded to the Jets in April 2023.
After a stint in New York, Rodgers signed with Pittsburgh this offseason. As Week 8 approaches, Rodgers has steered the Steelers to a 4-2 record, positioning them atop the AFC North.
A Steelers victory over Green Bay would catapult Rodgers into an elite fraternity alongside Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Brett Favre – the only quarterbacks to have defeated all 32 teams. This accomplishment is among the most exclusive accolades a quarterback can attain, and Rodgers could secure his membership by Sunday night. (Notably, Joe Montana and Fran Tarkenton are considered honorary members, having defeated all 28 teams that existed during their respective careers.)
Intriguingly, Rodgers could emulate Favre’s path to this milestone. Favre spent 16 seasons in Green Bay before being traded to the New York Jets prior to the 2008 season. After a single year with the Jets, Favre joined the Minnesota Vikings. In his first season with Minnesota, Favre faced the Packers in Week 4 and led the Vikings to victory, becoming the first QB in NFL history to beat all 32 teams.
Currently, seven active quarterbacks, including Rodgers, have defeated at least 30 teams. Let’s examine the other six:
Patrick Mahomes
The Chiefs’ franchise quarterback has conquered 31 teams. The only way he can reach 32 is if he finds a way to beat the Chiefs, which is impossible as long as he remains in Kansas City.
Matthew Stafford
The former No. 1 overall pick has defeated 31 teams in his career. To reach 32, he must overcome the Steelers.
Stafford had never beaten the Titans before the 2025 season. After the Rams defeated Tennessee in Week 2, the Steelers remain the sole team on Stafford’s list.
The Rams are not scheduled to face the Steelers this year, so his only chance to reach 32 this season is if the Rams face (and beat) Pittsburgh in the Super Bowl.
Russell Wilson
The Giants’ backup quarterback has beaten 31 other teams.
Wilson needs only to defeat the Seattle Seahawks to reach 32, but this is unlikely for two reasons: Wilson has been relegated to the bench, and the Giants do not play the Seahawks this year.
Josh Allen
The Bills’ star quarterback has defeated 30 teams but still needs to conquer the Bills and Eagles. Beating Buffalo won’t be easy if he’s in Buffalo.
However, Allen could eliminate the Eagles from his list because Buffalo will host them later this year in Week 17.
Joe Flacco
The Bengals’ new quarterback has defeated 30 teams but must overcome both the Ravens and Seahawks to reach 32.
Now in Cincinnati, he will likely have two opportunities to defeat Baltimore this year, with the Bengals scheduled to play the Ravens in Weeks 13 and 15.
As for Seattle, the Bengals are not scheduled to play the Seahawks this year, so a matchup could only occur in the Super Bowl.
Kirk Cousins
The Falcons’ backup quarterback has beaten 30 other teams, but it will be hard to knock the final two teams — the Bengals and Chiefs — off his list as long as he’s a backup.
There are also three starting quarterbacks who have beaten 29 teams and could increase their totals to at least 30 by season’s end:
Lamar Jackson
The Ravens’ franchise quarterback has only beaten 29 teams in his career, but he could be up to 31 by the end of the year. Jackson still needs to beat the Bears, Packers, and Ravens.
If he recovers from his hamstring injury, he could have a chance to beat the Bears this week. He will also get a crack at the Packers in Week 17.
