Alright, buckle up, football fans! Week 8 of the 2025 NFL season is practically here, and things are getting spicy! We just wrapped up a "Monday Night Football" doubleheader that saw some heavy hitters go head-to-head, including a clash between last week’s top dogs, the Buccaneers and the Lions. Detroit came out on top after a wild Sunday filled with nail-biters, including that insane 33-point fourth quarter comeback by the Broncos against the Giants. Talk about a rollercoaster!
So, where does everyone stand now? It’s time to reshuffle the deck and see how all these teams stack up as we head into Week 8. Six teams are chilling on a bye this week – the Cardinals, Jaguars, Lions, Raiders, Rams, and Seahawks – but the rest are ready to rumble.
But wait, there’s more! It’s not just about the top players and the starters. We’re shining a spotlight on those unsung heroes, the non-starters and role players who are making a serious impact with their limited time on the field. Who’s stepping up when injuries hit? Who’s making the most of every single snap? Let’s dive in and find out!
Our power panel, made up of over 80 writers, editors, and TV personalities, have crunched the numbers, watched the tape, and debated until they were blue in the face to bring you the definitive NFL Power Rankings, from 1 to 32.
NFL Week 8 Power Rankings: 1-32 + The Unsung Heroes
(Disclaimer: This is where opinions get thrown around like a Hail Mary on fourth down. Disagree? Let us know in the comments!)
1. Detroit Lions (5-2)
Last Week: Beat the Buccaneers 24-9
Previous Ranking: 2
The Lions are roaring! They took down the Buccaneers and are looking like legit contenders.
Unsung Hero: Isaac TeSlaa (WR)
This rookie might not be a household name yet, but when he gets his chance, he delivers. Playing behind Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Kalif Raymond means limited snaps, but TeSlaa has made the most of them. He only has three catches for 54 yards, but TWO of them were touchdowns! Remember that insane one-handed grab in the season opener against the Packers? Yeah, that was him. This Michigan native is quickly becoming a fan favorite.
2. Indianapolis Colts (6-1)
Last Week: Beat the Chargers 38-24
Previous Ranking: 4
The Colts are quietly dominating. Six wins in seven games? They’re doing something right.
Unsung Hero: Tyquan Lewis (DE)
Lewis isn’t a flashy starter, but he’s a consistent performer. In his eight seasons with the Colts, he brings it every time he’s on the field. This season he has three sacks, four tackles for loss, and 10 QB pressures, all while only playing 41% of the defensive snaps. He’s versatile, can play inside or outside, and is effective against both the run and the pass. Talk about a valuable asset!
3. Philadelphia Eagles (5-2)
Last Week: Beat the Vikings 28-22
Previous Ranking: 5
The Eagles are soaring, but they need to keep their foot on the gas.
Unsung Hero: Moro Ojomo (DT)
This seventh-round pick from Texas might be overshadowed by the Georgia boys, Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis, but Ojomo is holding his own. He’s stepped up after the departure of Milton Williams and is making a difference with three sacks, five QB hits, and three tackles for loss. "He’s a good football player. You need to stop being surprised by that," said defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Word.
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-2)
Last Week: Lost to the Lions 24-9
Previous Ranking: 1
Ouch. The Buccaneers took a tumble after that loss to the Lions. Time to regroup.
Unsung Hero: Sterling Shepard (WR)
With injuries plaguing the receiving corps, Shepard has become a crucial target for Baker Mayfield. His 267 receiving yards, 26 catches, and nine third-down receptions are all second on the team. He even made that last-second victory against Seattle possible with a game-tying touchdown. Coach Todd Bowles calls him "very underrated" and "one of our best players."
